Springfield, Mass. – March 3, 2025 – For the 19th time in his career, Springfield College's
Pete Avdoulos has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Diving Coach of the Year.
For Avdoulos, not only is it his 19th overall honor, he garnered NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year accolades for the fifth consecutive season. Avdoulos coach sophomore
Christian Butler (North Haven, Conn.), the now two-time NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year, to eight weekly awards from the conference office this season and helped him to spots at both the NCAA Division III Northeast-North Diving Regional Championships and ultimately a spot in the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships, which is slated to begin in just a couple of weeks in North Carolina.
Avdoulos helped Springfield to a historic team finish at the NEWMAC Championships as the Pride took third overall with 717.5 points – the highest finish for the program in 12 seasons.
Avdoulos and Butler will open action on the national stage on March 19 from the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina.
