Warwick, RI – April 20, 2025 – The Springfield College men's golf team took runner-up honors at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational over the weekend at the Valley Country Club. Springfield produced a two-day score of 627 just ten strokes behind Roger Williams University for the title.
On the par 72 course,
Aidan Strebel (Branford, Conn.) and
Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.)tied for sixth place with two-day scores of 154. Strebel and Kumpulanian had duplicated efforts as they both shot 79's on day one before shaving four strokes off their marks for 75's on day two.
David Girouard (Chicopee, Mass.) finished the weekend tied for 11th with a 157 going with an 82 on day one and a 75 on day two, while
Justin Acquarulo (Branford, Conn.) tied for 23rd with a 162 going 83 on day one and 79 on day two.
Amir Ardolino (Wilbraham, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Springfield as he took 26th with a 163 going 84 on day one and 79 on day two.
As a team, Springfield registered the best round two score among the nine teams finishing with a 304 (+16), three strokes better than Roger Williams.
Springfield will wrap up the season at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday, April 26 at the Wilbraham Country Club.
