Hartford, Conn. – April 6, 2025 – The Springfield College golf team opened its spring season at the Trinity Bantam/Hartford Hawks Spring Invite at Tumble Brook Country Club this weekend.
Springfield finished 18th overall with 657 strokes.
In the opening round on Saturday,
David Girouard (Chicopee, Mass.) led Springfield with a four-over 76 and then finished his weekend on Sunday with a five-over 77 to finish the two-day meet with a combined score of 153 (+9). On Saturday, Girouard birdied on holes three and five and then produced birdies on holes five and six on Sunday as he finished tied for 19th in the field of 85 student-athletes.
Aidan Strebel (Branford, Conn.) carded a 163 (+19) in the two day meet bettering his Saturday score by nine strokes finishing with a 77 on Sunday. Strebel produced birdies on hole eight and hole ten to go along with pars on ten different holes. On Sunday, Strebel went just +1 (37) on the back nine.
Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished with a two-day score of 170, while
Justin Acquarulo (Branford, Connn.) carded a two-day score of 171. Kumpulanian notched pars on ten holes on Sunday, while Acquarulo notched a birdie on hole seven this afternoon.
Springfield will wrap up its season at the Rhode Island College Invite at Valley Country Club on April 18-19.
