Medford, Mass. – January 17, 2026 – Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) guided the Springfield College men's track and field team in its first meet of the 2026 calendar year at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational on the campus of Tufts University.
Hansen produced a first place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.13 and led a group that saw three others place in the top-ten.
Seth Twarog (Hubbardston, Mass.) placed second in 50.22,
Parker Ruger (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) placed sixth in 51.83 and
Caleb March (Hampden, Maine) placed ninth in 52.98. Hansen and Twarog rank 30th and 36th in Division III this season with their times in the 400-meter dash today.
The quartet of Hansen, March, Ruger and Twarog also combined for a first place finish in the 4x400-meter relay clocking a 3:25.32, as the time ranks 18th in Division III this season.
Luca Kabel (Merrimack, N.H.) posted a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash in 7.04 with
Ari Papadimitriou (Shelton, Conn.) right behind him in fifth in 7.18. Kabel also took fifth in the 200-meter dash in 22.65. Rounding out the highlights for the sprinters was
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.), who crossed the line third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.38.
Springfield had four in the top-eight in the mile led by
Slade Harding (Malden, Mass.) in fourth in 4:41.18. He was followed by
Ty Sanges (Gloversville, N.Y.) in fifth (4:41.50),
Jeremiah Singer (Barnstable ,Mass.) in sixth (4:44.55) and
Ayden Collura (Rocky Hill, Conn.) in eighth (4:59.23).
Gabe Schaeffer (Selisgrove, Pa.)registered a third place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 16:28.61 and
Elijah Quinn (Holyoke, Mass.) placed ninth in the 3,000-meter run in 9:13.15 to round out the highlights on the track for the Pride.
Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) and
Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) recorded the best finishes for Springfield in the field events as Manu cleared 1.92-meters for third in the high jump, while McKenney cleared 4.30-meter for third in the pole vault. Manu also leapt 6.19-meter for ninth in the long jump.
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) posted a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.57-meters and was followed in fifth by
Mitch Krasco (Orange, Mass.) who posted a best leap of 13.48-meters.
Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) came in fourth place in the shot put with a best toss of 13.64-meters with
Bryce Ray (Dayton, Maine) in sixth with a mark of 13.43-meters.
Charles Botelho (Middleboro, Mass.)wrapped up the meet with a fifth place finish in the weight throw marking a toss of 14.45-meters.
Next weekend, Springfield will return home for the Massasoit Classic inside the field house.
