Medford, Mass. – January 17, 2026 – Junior
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) picked up right where she left off as she broke her own 60-meter hurdles record to highlights efforts for the Springfield College women's track and field team at today's Branwen Smith-King Invitational on the campus of Tufts University.
DeFosse ran a prelim time of 8.73 to break her own record of 8.79, which she set a season ago, before taking the finals in in 8.83. Her time of 8.73 currently ranks fifth in Division III this year. DeFosse also claimed fifth in the 60-meter dash in 7.98.
The other winner for Springfield on the track came from
Sydney Meeks (Wynantskill, N.Y.) as she crossed the line in 1:02.07 in the 400-meter dash. Meeks then teamed up with
Madison Mulas (Wilmington, Mass.),
Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.) and
Natalia Marchand (Hubbardston, Mass.) in the 4x400-meter relay for second place in 4:11.16, which ranks in the top-50 this year in the nation.
Individually, Marchand placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 26.21, a time that ranks in the top-50.
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) paced the Pride in the 600-meter run with a seventh place finish in 1:43.52 and the 1000-meter run with a fifth place finish in 3:12.79, while Knott was just behind Kyle in the 600-meter run in 1:43.86.
Mirabel Brunell (Clifton Park, N.Y.) took sixth in the mile in 5:27.13, while
Meghan Sullivan (Easthampton, Mass.) took sixth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:28.28 to round out the highlights on the track.
In the field events,
Grace Flattery (Swansea, Mass.) had a strong showing winning the triple jump with a leap of 10.79-meter and placing second in the high jump clearing 1.58-meters.
Aubrey Hughes (Liberty Hill, Texas) also recorded a mark of 1.58-meters in the high jump in her collegiate debut.
Emma Barnes (Saco, Maine) and
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the shot put with marks of 11.56-meters and 11.46-meters, respectively. Debian also placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 15.11-meters. Rounding out the highlights in the field events was
Elizabeth Lewelling (Palmdale, Calif.), who took fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.00-meters.
