Manheim, Pa. – January 23, 2026 – After an impressive start to the 2026 calendar year, which included a runner-up finish at the Budd Whitehill National Duals for the first time since 2012, the Springfield College wrestling team earned its way into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Tournament Top 25 and Dual Meet Top 25 for the first time this year.
Springfield currently ranks tied for 13th in the tournament top 25 with 16.5 total points and is tied with Williams College, Coast Guard and Elizabethtown. Springfield, Williams, Coast Guard and Johnson & Wales are the only four programs from the Northeast Region to be ranked in this poll as of January 23.
Springfield is also ranked 21st in the dual meet top 25 for the first time this season as the Pride hold a mark of 8-1 in duals. The Pride defeated No. 12 nationally-ranked Washington & Lee and No. 24 nationally-ranked Ohio Northern at the Whitehill Duals and has also produced victories over New England College, Norwich, Western New England, Roger Williams, MSOE and York College (Pa.) this year.
Springfield has seven dual meets left prior to the regional championships highlighted by a trip to No. 11 Castleton where the Pride will take on the host Spartans as well as No. 14 Johnson & Wales in a quad meet on February 7.
Regionally, three Springfield student-athletes sit atop the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) rankings.
Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) ranks first at 174,
Myles Leonard (Waldwick, N.J.), ranks first at 184 and
Nick Rogers (Watertown, N.Y.) ranks first at 197. Springfield also has four others ranked inside the top-10 regionally including
Esuar Ordonez (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) being sixth at 133,
Isaac Quiles (East Hartford, Conn.) being sixth at 141,
Ty Stewart (Dracut, Mass.) being fifth at 149,
Gabriel Thomasson (Norton, Mass.) being seventh at 165 and
Ben Katz (Medford, N.Y.) being third at 285.
Springfield will travel to Rhode Island for the Wildcat Open tomorrow beginning at 9:30 am from Johnson & Wales University.
