Springfield, Mass. – January 24, 2026 – The Springfield College women's track and field team hosted the 2026 Massasoit Classic inside the Springfield College Field House on Saturday afternoon. The meet was non-scoring, but the Pride put together some impressive performances both regionally and nationally.
In the field events,
Aubrey Hughes (Liberty Hill, Texas) produced a win in the high jump clearing 1.63-meters, which is the 13th best mark in Division III this season.
Grace Flattery (Swansea, Mass.) also cleared 1.53-meters for a fourth place finish at the meet.
Elizabeth Lewelling (Palmdale, Calif.) registered a runner-up finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.08-meters and
Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) came in fifth with a leap of 4.89-meters.
Flattery and Lewelling also led the Pride in the triple jump with Flattery posted a leap of 10.62-meters for second, while Lewelling took fifth with a mark of 10.19-meters.
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.)produced first place finishes in both the shot put with a toss of 12.12-meters and the weight throw with a toss of 15.65-meters. Debian's weight throw mark sits 40th nationally this season. In total, Springfield won three of six field events on Saturday.
Springfield was equally impressive on the track at the meet as the quartet of
Mirabel Brunell (Clifton Park, N.Y.),
Leah Castle (Ashford, Conn.),
Kami Wlodyka (Three Rivers, Mass.) and
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) ran the distance medley relay and clocked a first place time of 13:25.68, which ranks 14th fastest in the country this year.
Natalia Marchand (Hubbardston, Mass.) was the only student-athlete to run a sub-one minute 400-meter dash as she clocked a 58.62 for first place, while Kyle and
Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.) finished 2-3 in the 800-meter run with times of 2:23.34 and 2:23.40, respectively. In the sprints,
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) earned a win in the 200-meter dash in 26.40 and took third in the 60-meter dash in 7.96.
Brunell went on to take second in the 1000-meter run in 3:14.53 and was closely followed by
Brooke Ferrare (Waterbury, Conn.) in fourth in 3:22.29.
The distance crew rounded out the highlights of the Massasoit Classic as
Hannah McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.)paced Springfield in the mile with a fifth place finish in 5:44.02. The Pride also had four in the top-seven in the 3,000-meter run paced by Wlodyka in second in 11:04.19 and
Meghan Sullivan (Easthampton, Mass.) in fourth in 11:20.49.
Springfield will travel to the Track at New Balance for next Sunday's New England Small College Invitational.
