Boston, Mass. – February 1, 2026 – The Springfield College men's track and field team competed against some of the best competition in the region on Sunday afternoon at the New England Small College Invitational hosted by Middlebury College at the Track at New Balance.
Springfield put up a pair of top-25 marks in the nation as
Shane Erb (Marion, Iowa) won the 5,000-meter run in 14:43.48, which not only ranks him 24th in the country but he came just 0.17-seconds away from breaking Brian Fuller's school record from 2012. Erb's 5k was the first sub 15-minute time since the 2022 season.
In his debut in the maroon and white, Division I transfer
Josh Goffe (Senoia, Ga.) put his name into the to-15 nationally in the 200-meter dash crossing the line with a first place time of 21.71-seconds.
Luca Kabel (Merrimack N.H.) followed in seventh in 22.31. Goffe and Kabel also highlighted the 60-meter dash with Goffe placing fourth in 7.02 and Kabel placing ninth in 7.24.
Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) earned a first place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.41.
Parker Ruger (Rhinebeck, N.Y.),
Seth Twarog (Hubbardston, Mass.),
Caleb March (Hampden, Maine) and
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) rounded out the track highlights for the Pride today as they combined for a third place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:22.84. Hansen (2nd – 49.06), Twarog (8th – 49.98) and Ruger (9th – 50.64) also all competed in the 400-meter dash.
Springfield's best finish in the field events came from
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) in the triple jump and
Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) in the shot put as they both took second in their respective events. McGlashan leapt 13.50-meters, while Blanchard posted a toss of 13.99-meters. Springfield also put up six other top-10 placements in the field events today.
Daniel Hyde (Monroe, Conn.) and
Jamil Manu (Manchester, Conn.) tied for fourth by clearing 1.87-meters in the high jump,
Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) cleared 4.45-meters in the pole vault, Blanchard recorded a mark of 14.10-meters in the weight throw,
Mitchell Krasco (Orange, Mass.) leapt 13.46-meters in the triple jump and
Bryce Ray (Dayton, Maine) posted a toss of 13.10-meters in the shot put.
Springfield will travel to Norton for the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday.
