Boston, Mass. – February 1, 2026 – The Springfield College women's track and field team competed against some of the best competition in the region on Sunday afternoon at the New England Small College Invitational hosted by Middlebury College at the Track at New Balance.
In total, Springfield produced four event wins and numerous top-10 placements throughout the day.
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) began the meet with a win in the 60-meter hurdles crossing the line in 8.82 and followed it up with a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash in 7.83.
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) followed DeFosse in the 60-meter dash in seventh place (8.09), while also taking sixth in the 200-meter dash in 26.31.
Natalia Marchand (Hubbardston, Mass.) took fourth place in the 400-meter dash in 59.21 and was closely followed by
Sydney Meeks (Wynantskill, N.Y.), who recorded a time of 1:00.21.
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) paced the Pride in the mile in 5:10.84, while
Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.) did the same in the 800-meter run in 2:23.75.
The Pride then went on to take first place in three of the six field events.
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) continued her stellar sophomore campaign winning the weight throw with a toss of 15.01-meters and also taking second in the shot put with a mark of 12.04-meters.
Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) cleared 3.30-meters for first in the pole vault, while
Aubrey Hughes (Liberty Hill, Texas) cleared 1.63-meters for first in the high jump.
Grace Flattery (Swansea, Mass.) followed Hughes in the high jump with a mark of 1.58-meters and also took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.74-meters. Behind Debian in the shot put was
Emma Barnes (Saco, Maine) in fourth with a toss of 11.50-meters and
Charlotte Gerow (Tolland, Conn.) in ninth with a mark of 10.97-meters.
Elizabeth Lewelling (Palmdale, Calif.) rounded out today's highlights with a leap of 4.81-meters in the long jump.
Springfield will travel to Norton for the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday.
