Medford, Mass. – February 14, 2026 – The Springfield College women's track and field team competed at the Tufts Cupid Classic and Boston University's Valentine Invitational on Saturday afternoon against some of the best competition in the region.
On the track at Boston University,
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) finished second in her heat and 48th overall in a field of nearly 100 athletes in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.06, while
Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.) clocked a 2:21.27 in the 800-meter run for second in her heat only behind Ella Besant of Coast Guard.
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) competed in the mile and posted a seventh place finish in her heat with a time of 5:12.54.
At Tufts, first-year
Mel Butler (Pembroke, Mass.) registered the best placement of the day taking runner-up honors in the 60-meter dash in 8.46-seconds. Classmate
Julia Romano (Braintree, Mass.) followed closely in fifth in 8.53.
Madison Mulas (Wilmington, Mass.) produced a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.98 and a 13th place finish in the 200-meter dash in 27.82. Right behind Mulas in the 200 was
Abby Hemstrought (Clinton, N.Y.) in 15th with a time of 27.83.
Leah Castle (Ashford, Conn.) earned fourth place in the 800-meter run in 2:24.86, while
Kami Wlodyka (Three Rivers, Mass.) did the same in the 1000-meter run in 3:11.41.
Mirabel Brunell (Clifton Park, N.Y.)also clocked a 3:16.47 for eighth in the 1000.
Brooke Ferrare (Waterbury, Conn.) finished in 11:24.95 in the 3000-meter run as
Lauren Roche (Corning, N.Y.) and
Sara St. Germain (Somers, Conn.) rounded out the highlights on the track as Roche ran a 6:03.78 in the mile and St. Germain clocked a 19:45.50 in the 5000-meter run.
In the field events,
Grace Flattery (Swansea, Mass.) and
Aubrey Hughes (Liberty Hill, Texas) tied for sixth clearing 1.58-meters, while
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) paced Springfield in both the shot put and weight throw posting a toss of 11.96-meters in the shot and a throw of 13.89-meters in the weight. Flattery also notched a mark of 10.36-meters in the triple jump, while
Emma Barnes (Saco, Maine) was right behind Debian in the shot with a throw of 11.64-meters.
Springfield will host the Triangle Classic beginning on Friday in the Field House.
