Norton, Mass. - February 7, 2026 - The Springfield College men's track and field team took the runner-up finish in a field of seven teams at the Wheaton Invite on Saturday afternoon.
UMass Dartmouth won the meet with 156 points and was followed by Springfield (136), Wheaton (84), UMass Boston (69) and Bridgewater State (45) to round out the top five.
Elijah Quinn (Holyoke, Mass.) took the win in the one mile run, crossing the finish line at 4:37.36. Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) won the 60-meter hurdles at 8.33 and Joshua Goffe (Senoia, Ga.) won the 60-meter dash at 6.91.
Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) and Parker Ruger (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) finished one and two in the collegiate invite 400-meter dash finishing at 49.35 and 50.41m, respectively. Goffe and Luca Kabel (Merrimack, N.H.) also finished one and two in the collegiate open 400-meter dash at 50.05 and 52.03, respectively.
In the 1000-meter run, Slade Harding (Malden, Mass.) came in fourth at 2:36.08 while Jeremiah Singer (Barnstable, Mass.) and Ty Sanges (Gloversville, N.Y.) finished seventh and eighth at 2:42.16 and 2:42.43, respectively. Tyler Davis (East Hartford, Conn.) came in fifth in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 24.12.
Springfield took the win in the 4x400-meter relay as Kabel, Ruger, Mathieu Soucy (Orange, Mass.) and Caleb March (Hampden, Maine) put together a 3:27.53 finish.
In the weight throw, the Pride took four spots in the top ten with Charles Botelho (Middleboro, Mass.) leading the charge with a third place finish with a mark of 14.63-meters and Peyton Blanchard (Kennebunk, Maine) close behind in fourth with a throw of 14.62-meters. Matthew Krisinski (Thompson, Conn.) finished sixth with a mark of 12.74-meters and Nick Meisenkothen (Durham, Conn.) finished eighth with a throw of 12.62-meters. Blanchard took second place in the shot put with a throw of 14.32-meters while Zahir Butler (Newington, Conn.) finished fifth with a mark of 13.86-meters.
Daniel McGlashan (Haverhill, Mass.) came in fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.10-meters as Patrick Dahm (Feeding Hills, Mass.) jumped 5.97-meters for sixth. Alex McKenney (Ossining, N.Y.) won the pole vault with a mark of 4.30-meters as Jeffrey Gao (Cambridge, Mass.) finished fourth at 3.10-meters. Mitchell Krasco (Orange, Mass.) and Declan Costello (Baldwin, N.Y.) took first and second in the triple jump with marks of 13.67-meters and 13.02-meters, respectively.
Springfield will travel to Tufts for the Jumbo Invitational and BU for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday.
