Springfield 2 , Emerson 1 - Game One

Gillian Kane (New Canaan, Conn.) gave up just one run and four hits over a complete game performance to lead the Pride to victory.  Through three innings, only three hits were allowed between both teams.

The Lions struck first in the bottom of the third on sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to score. In the top of the next inning, Springfield grabbed the lead from Emerson with three hits in the frame that scored a pair. Sam Witmer (Drexel Hill, Pa.) knocked a single to left, before Kayla Stvan (Parlin, N.J.) added a single to right to advance Witmer. Breannah McCann (San Diego, Calif.) brought into both runners with a deep double to center and putting Springfield ahead 2-1. Over the following two innings, Kane stranded four runners on base and only allowed two hits to keep the Emerson bats at bay and allow Springfield take the first game.

Springfield 9, Emerson 4 - Game Two

A six-run sixth inning proved to be the difference as Springfield was able to earn the doubleheader sweep with a 9-4 win in the nightcap.  Mackenzie Doyle (Glocester, R.I.) had a 3-for-4 showing at the plate with two runs and two RBI and Maggie Britt (Bridgeport, Conn.) had two hits and crossed home plate twice. Logann Carey (Riverhead, N.Y.) came in to earn the victory in relief as she tossed the final 3.1 innings as she allowed just one hit.

The hosts erupted for four hits in the opening inning to deliver a pair of runs to jump out to an early advantage.  Both Britt and Doyle were able to scamper home on an Alli Olsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) bunt that was a fielder's choice as Springfield tied things up in the third, only to have the Lions get a two-out, two-run single in the fourth to regain a 4-2 lead.

The Pride did all its damage with two outs in the sixth inning, as Breannah McCann (San Diego, Calif.) started the rally with a walk.  She'd later score on an Ava Fernandez (Cedar Grove, N.J.) single before Doyle laced a two-run single to center to put the Pride ahead for good. Sam Witmer capped off the scoring with a double that plated Doyle for the Pride's fifth hit of the frame. Springfield added an insurance run in the seventh, as Fernandez ripped a single up the middle to score McCann, who blasted a double with one out earlier in the inning.
