- One of Springfield College's most highly-decorated track & field athletes
- An extremely versatile athlete
- Still holds four Springfield College track and field records that have lasted nearly 30 years at the time of his induction
- Records still held include the high jump (6-11), long jump (24-5.5), the indoor pentathlon (3,833 points), and the decathlon at the NCAA Championships in 1980
- A Division II All-American after finishing second in the decathlon at the NCAA Championships in 1980
- A three-time All-New England performer
- While at Springfield College, he was crowned New England Indoor Long Jump Champion, Eastern Long Jump Champion, and the IC4A Indoor Pentathlon Champion
- Finalist in the 1984 United States Olympic Decathlon Trials
