-Three time All-American swimmer

-Captain of the 1968 Springfield swim team

-At New England Championships in 1967 & 1968 set records in the 1650 free style and 500 free style

-Set the world record of the English Channel Swim in 1972 (9 hours, 44 minutes)

-Also swam the English Channel in 1973 & 1976

-Won the swim from France to England, England to France in 1973 & 1976

-Set record for 10-mile Lake Sunapee (N.H.) Marathon at 3 hours, 42 minutes. (previous record was  6 hours, 5 minutes) -accomplishment was featured in Sports Illustrated's "Face in the Crowd" 1968

-Has placed 2nd, 5th, and 8th at the Masters National Championships
